Soderbergh pushes his directorial skills in this clever ghostly tale shot entirely from the viewpoint of the phantom. This Dramatic Portrait
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for greed in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, though Chastain succeeds to depict the character in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, late night, the Film4 channel
